My version of Crock Pot Pork and Sauerkraut is an award-winning recipe that our whole family loves. I say award-winning, because 15 years ago my mother, modified my mother-in-law’s original Crock Pot Pork and Sauerkraut recipe and entered it in a local newspaper recipe contest.

She won! Not only did she get the recipe printed in the paper, but she also got a $50 cash prize. It was a proud family moment for all of us!

This award winning recipe is special to me because it is the perfect culinary combination of my mother and mother-in-law. Crock Pot Pork and Sauerkraut is one of those recipes you will want to make over and over.

What is easier than throwing the ingredients in the crock pot in the morning and coming home to a delicious ready to serve dinner?

I normally whip up some mashed potatoes (instant is fine, too. No judging here.) and dinner is served. If you are lucky you will end up with leftovers.

Crock Pot Pork and Sauerkraut is one of those recipes that tastes just as good, if not better on the second day.

You will need some simple ingredients to make this recipe at home. Honestly, it’s super easy and you’ll be shocked that you never tried this great recipe before. Crock pot pork and sauerkraut is really great for dinners, we eat it on New Years Day each year as well…it’s a weird local tradition for good luck in the new year!

For my version you’ll need a boneless pork loin, sauerkraut, apples or apple butter, brown sugar, some beer, and an onion. That’s it. Nothing else!

This truly is a really simple recipe. As I mentioned I usually serve with mashed potatoes but you can serve it as is, over noodles, with a salad, or whatever you like! If you don’t like to eat the sauerkraut you can let it give all that flavor to the meat and then use the pork for sandwiches too!

How to make Crock Pot Pork and Sauerkraut:

You are going to love how simple it is to make this recipe. It’s truly magical when you realize that all you need to do is put in the meat, cover it with sauerkraut, pour in the beer, add in the sliced onion and apple on top of the sauerkraut, and shut the lid.

This recipe needs to cook for about 6 hours on high. Cooking times can vary depending on the slow cooker you are using so be sure to check the internal temperature of the pork before cooking and just adjust the time as needed to get it to a safe internal temperature of 145 F.

What kind of Crockpot is best for this recipe?

You may have noticed though that I am a huge fan of the Crockpot. I use mine (all six of them) on a regular basis.

I’ve picked up a few at yard sales or thrift stores, but this Crock Pot is one of my favorites. Everyone needs a crock pot with a lid that clamps on.

No one wants to clean up a crockpot full of food off of their floor mats. I am speaking from real life experience. Baked beans cannot be salvaged once the crockpot spills over on a sharp turn in the car ride!

You can also make a similar version of this recipe in the Instant Pot (Instant Pot Pork and Sauerkraut Recipe) so if you prefer to use the pressure cooker you can definitely do that!

Looking for the Weight Watchers info for this Crockpot pork and sauerkraut recipe? Here you’ll find the points breakdown for all three of the myWW+ programs. If you are on Blue, Purple, or Green plans with Weigth Watchers these days you know that it’s sometimes different for every plan.

Check it out below so you know exactly how to track your dinner! This tasty recipe makes 8 servings. You’ll need to cut your pork into servings and have about 3/4 cup of sauerkraut mixture per serving. The size and shape of the pork will differ with every loin so just cut it into 8 equal servings before you eat it and you’ll be safe in tracking correctly!

Recipe is calculated using apples, and including the brown sugar. If you really need to make this one less points you could use light beer and cut out the sugar or use a brown sugar replacement.

I prefer the recipe this way because it tastes great! It’s only 4 points per serving so it’s not really worth potentially compromising the taste for me but if you prefer to try it, be sure and let us know how it goes!
