This chicken kabob is rich in flavor with the homemade BBQ sauce as it is smoking on a pellet grill. Cooked on your outdoor electric grill to help keep the mess out of the kitchen. It’s delicious and ideal for quick grilling during the summertime!

It’s our favorite time of year for cooking this smoked chicken recipe. I prepare the chicken breast pieces in advance so I can put them on the smoker when ready to eat.
They are perfect with smoked potatoes in foil as a side dish. These Rec Teq Grilled Chicken Kabobs use breast meat and cooked on the pellet-fired smoker.
No need to marinate your chicken. Tender and juicy, it’s everything you’d wish your chicken could have always been.

Equipment Needed to Make BBQ Chicken Skewers
- Pellet Smoker – I like to use a Rec Teq Pellet Smoker, or you can use a Traeger Pellet Smoker.
- Pellets – Competition Blend Pellets are my favorite.
- Skewers – Metal Skewers or Wooden Skewers will work.
- Chicken Breast – One Breast will make two skewers.
- Seasoning Salt and Pepper – My favorite is Lawry’s Seasoned Salt and Morton’s Natures Seasonings.
- BBQ Sauce – Homemade BBQ Sauce is best, but you can use store bought if desired.
- Silicone Pastry Brush – Helps to spread barbecue sauce onto the kabobs.
- Tongs – Make sure to have a good pair of tongs.

How to Make BBQ Chicken Kabobs on Pellet Smoker
Gather the ingredients to make your BBQ chicken kebabs on a pellet grill. I like to use metal skewers, but you can use wooden ones if you soak them in water before use.
Preheat the pellet smoker to 250°F. Fill the smoker with your favorite pellets. I like to use the competition blend pellets.
Cut the chicken breast into 1-inch cubes. Put chicken pieces onto the skewer and season them with your favorite seasonings.

Once the pellet grill is hot, place the chicken kabob on to the grill grates. Close the lid and let cook until the chicken breast internal temperature is about 150°F.
If possible, use a digital thermometer or the temperature gauge that you can get with your pellet smoker. Use a silicone brush to apply the BBQ sauce onto the chicken skewers.

Turn the grill temperature up to 400°F and continue smoking until the internal temperature is 165°F. Remove the barbeque chicken skewers from the grill with a pair of tongs and serve with your favorite side dish.
What to Serve with BBQ Chicken Kebabs
- Smoked Potatoes in Foil
- Cucumber Tomato Onion Salad
- Cheese and Bacon Hasselback Potatoes
- Red Hots Apple Sauce

How to Store Barbecue Chicken Kabobs
Make a large batch of the chicken kabobs so that you have extras to eat during the week. They store very well in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 6 days.
Reheat in the microwave, air fryer, oven, or grill. I love these bite-sized chicken pieces cold right out of the fridge. Serve on a salad or with your favorite side dish.
