I love picking up a pound of fresh okra from my local supermarket! When you choose your okra, it should feel firm but not hard to the touch. Try to look for bright green pods with little to no blemishes. A little brown is fine but remember, the greener the fresher!
It’s not a hugely popular fruit that many people buy up here where I live now, so not all shops stock it fresh, but I have found it numerous times depending on the market I go to. The buttermilk in the recipe helps keep the batter on and the garlic & seasonings give it an amazing flavor.
