Today I am sharing the way I cook the most perfect easy peel hard boiled eggs. You know why? Cause most methods make you use an ice bath. And as weirdo as it may be, we don’t have ice at our house. Weird, weird. I know.

So I learned to adapt how to make hard boiled eggs and turns out it works out way better than an ice bath. And less work, and more consistent. I don’t want to make a guarantee, but I strongly promise these eggs will peel perfect.

I’m pretty sure if you are a math lover I just made you cringe a little with that made up math equation. My bad yo.

I happened to be watching someone on YouTube talk about how they make hard boiled eggs. And wtf, they cooked them for waayyyyyy too long. So I figure there needs to be just one more how to make a perfect hard boiled eggs recipe out there. Because the 1 billion out there must not be enough.

So here goes. This method will make hard boiled eggs with a completely cooked yellow. The yellow will be pale in color and a few may have a center that is a little darker yellow.

How to make these easy peel hard boiled eggs

Get a pot large enough for the amount of eggs you want to make. You want the eggs to have enough room to move around as they boil, and not crack because they bump into each other.

I used a medium size sauce pan and only put 6 eggs in. I could have squeezed two more in the pan. But I didn’t, cause I am dumb, and didn’t buy enough eggs at the store.

Place enough water in the pot so the eggs will be completely covered by the water. It doesn’t need to cover the eggs more than an inch. An easy way to do this is stick an uncooked egg in the pot you are using. Fill it up until it covers the eggs. Then remove the egg.

No need to get a measuring cup out to boil eggs. That’s as dumb as me not buying enough eggs at the store.

boil

Bring the pot of water to a rapid boil. Once the water is boiling use a slotted spoon to GENTLY place your eggs in, one egg at a time.

To do this place the egg on the spoon then rest the spoon the inside wall of the pan and slide it down into the water.

Sometimes when the eggs are super cold they crack as soon as they hit the hot water. You could set them out at room temperature for 15 minutes before cooking to help alleviate this problem.

Once all of your eggs have been added keep the water at a rapid boil, and cook for 11 minutes exactly if you would like a yolk that is mostly pale yellow with a little darker in the center. I find that cooking hard boiled eggs longer than 13 minutes is overkill. They should be completely set with an all pale yellow center by then.

I stick with 11 minutes because most of my eggs will have an all pale yellow center, with an occasional misfit that has a little darker center yellow.

If you feel like things are getting a little too crazy inside the pot and eggs are knocking and water is flying turn the water down just a tad. From like a 10 to an 8.

drain

Once 11 minutes is up, you need to drain the hot water immediately. Again nothing fancy, keep the eggs in the pot, use the inside of your sink to help keep the eggs in as you tip the pan to pour the hot water out.

Next we chill the eggs down fast with cold water. With the eggs still in the pot, place the pot in the sink and turn the cold water onto the eggs. Let the pot fill and overflow until the water that goes into the pot stays cold.

Here’s why. The pan is still hot. If you just fill it up with cold water once the warm pan will make the water warm again. But if you let the water run about 45 seconds you can cool it down enough so the water stays cold.

Leave them in the cold water for 5 minutes. Then remove and put into your fridge.

The end. You are done making the most perfect easy peel hard boiled eggs.

The easy way to peel hard boiled eggs

Although these perfect easy peel hard boiled eggs won’t really need a method to peel them, the easiest way to peel your egg is to get the shell to crush while staying intact. We do this by tapping or pressing the egg on the counter 4 times! once on the side, once on the other side, and then on the top point of the egg and one on the bottom of the egg.

There should be cracks around the entire egg and it should feel like it has pulled away from the egg its self. See pic above.
