How to Make Jello Cubes

Jello cubes are easy to make. IMPORTANT: You will not be following the directions on the box of Jello, which calls for more water than you need.

  1. Dissolve each flavor of colored Jello into 1 cup of hot water each. Do not use more water than this or the cubes will be too diluted and harder to slice once solid.
  2. Pour the mixture into separate rectangular containers. Use shallow containers that will give you no more than 1-inch thick cubes, otherwise it takes longer for the Jello to set and also more challenging to cut. The Jello should only take about 2-3 hours to set if you chill it in shallow containers.
  3. Chill. Chill in the refrigerator until solid.
  4. Cut into cubes. Using a sharp knife, cut into small cubes.

Once you’ve made the Jello cubes, the rest is a cinch!*Scroll below for the detailed printable recipe card.

  1. Spray a 9×13 glass baking dish with nonstick cooking spray.
  2. Gently place the Jello cubes in an even layer in the dish, in any pattern you like. Careful not to break or tear them.
  3. Dissolve unflavored gelatin in hot water. Let the hot mixture cool slightly and then whisk in the sweetened condensed milk. Let mixture cool to the touch (if it’s too warm, it could melt the Jello cubes.)
  4. Evenly pour the mixture over the cubes of Jello.
  5. Cover and chill in the refrigerator overnight.
  6. Cut into squares and serve.
