So I’m sure you’ve seen the kitchen hack all over social media about cooking eggs in an oven. We were curious what would happen so we thought we’d give it a try!

Hard-Boiled Eggs in Oven?

Have you wondered what happens when you try to make “hard-boiled” eggs in the oven?

Ok, so we tested it out for you (and for ourselves…)!

First, preheat your oven to 325 degrees F.

Get a regular size muffin pan and put an egg in each cup of the pan.

We used large eggs but you could probably use any size you’d like. You may just need to adjust the time a little depending on the size if your eggs if they are bigger or smaller.

Carefully place the pan with the eggs into the middle of your oven. Bake them for about 30 minutes.

A few minutes before the eggs are done baking, prepare an ice bath in a large bowl. Get a large bowl fill about half the bowl with ice then top with cold water.

When the eggs are done baking, carefully lift the eggs one at a time out of the pan with tongs and place in the ice bath.

Let the eggs sit in the ice bath for a little while so that they stop cooking and they cool down.

Once cool, peel the eggs and you should have hard-boiled eggs!

Yep, that’s right, it WORKED!

HOWEVER, one small problem….

When you take the eggs out of the oven you may notice some small brown spots on the shell. When we peeled several of the eggs there were brown spots on the egg whites.

So if you’re looking to make deviled eggs, not sure I’d use this method. BUT if you’re planning to chop up the eggs and can cut around some of the brown spots, this method would be great for making a lot of eggs at once if you have a lot of pans.

But the eggs would be great chopped up in salads like this Chicken Salad with Apples or this Potato Salad.
