The fireworks display at Magic Kingdom has always been one of the most captivating nighttime entertainment options at Disney World. It’s an experience we highly recommend adding to your trip, whether you’re celebrating something special or just looking for an extra treat.
If you’re considering making a reservation for a dessert party, it’s important to know that you have three different options to choose from. While they all offer similar experiences, there is one that stands out as the best. Let’s dive into the details:
What are the Fireworks Dessert Parties at Magic Kingdom and where are they located?
The Fireworks Dessert Parties at Magic Kingdom are special ticketed events that offer guests a unique and unforgettable experience. You’ll enjoy mouthwatering desserts, beverages, and a prime viewing location for the enchanting fireworks display over Cinderella Castle.
These dessert parties are extremely popular because they offer a perfect combination of delectable treats and guaranteed reserved viewing for the fireworks shows. When you book this premium event, you’ll be treated to a selection of desserts, savory items like cheese and crackers, and your choice of beverages.
There are three different options to choose from:
- Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties: Happily Ever After Pre-Party
- Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties: Happily Ever After Post Party (our favorite of the three)
- Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties: Happily Ever After Seats & Sweets (the only option with chairs for seating)
All three dessert parties take place at the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant. Pre and Post Party guests watch the fireworks from different areas, while Seats & Sweets provides tables and chairs for viewing.
What are the differences between the three party options?
The dessert portion of all the parties takes place at the Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant, where you can indulge in delectable desserts at tables and chairs. Here’s a breakdown of the differences:
- Happily Ever After Pre-Party and Seats & Sweets parties start with desserts in the Tomorrowland Terrace restaurant before the fireworks.
- Seats & Sweets is the only option where you get to view the fireworks from a chair. The other two parties require standing.
- Happily Ever After Post Party begins with the fireworks viewing and later moves to Tomorrowland Terrace for desserts.
Now, let’s talk about the fireworks experience for each option:
Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties: Happily Ever After Pre-Party
- Cost: $99 for adults (ages 10 and up), $59 for kids (ages 3 to 9)
- Fireworks view: As the time for fireworks nears, Plaza Garden Viewing guests are escorted from the restaurant to a reserved grassy area. The view from this location is pretty close to straight on and allows you to clearly see the projections on the castle. However, the view of the projections on Main Street is partially blocked. If the view of the fireworks is the most important thing for you, the Post Party option offers a better spot since they are seated in the viewing area while you enjoy your desserts.
- Seating for fireworks?: Guests of the Happily Ever After Pre-Party don’t have chairs to watch the fireworks from, but you’ll be able to sit on the faux grass until show time.
Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties: Happily Ever After Post Party (our favorite)
- Cost: $99 for adults (ages 10 and up), $59 for kids (ages 3 to 9)
- Fireworks view: Guests who choose the Post Party get first dibs on spots inside the reserved fireworks viewing area.
- Seating for fireworks?: Like the Pre-Party, guests of the Happily Ever After Post Party don’t have chairs to watch the fireworks from, but you’ll be able to sit on the faux grass until show time.
Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties: Happily Ever After Seats & Sweets
- Cost: $114 (ages 10 and up), $69 for kids (ages 3 to 9)
- Fireworks view: The view from this location is slightly off-centered, and while the projections are still visible, you may miss some details from this angle.
- Seating: Guests booking this option will have chairs available to sit on while watching the fireworks, although many people choose to stand or move their chair up closer to the railing that surrounds the restaurant during the show.
Regardless of your choice, it’s important to remember that theme park admission is required and not included in the dining package price. You must also make a theme park reservation.
Our Recommendation: The Post Party Is the Way to Go
Hands down, our favorite option is the Post Party. Here’s why:
People who book the Post Party get first dibs on fireworks views. If you book the Pre-Party, you may feel rushed to eat your desserts quickly so that you can find a good spot. However, those who choose the Post Party can secure their fireworks spot early and then leisurely enjoy desserts and drinks while the crowds disperse.
While Seats & Sweets offers seating, the view is not as straight on. Nevertheless, it’s a great choice for families who prefer a spot to sit while enjoying the fireworks.
What Can You Expect to Be Served?
Now, let’s talk about the most important part: the drinks and desserts!
You can expect a variety of beverage options, including water, milk, tea, lemonade, Pog Juice, sparkling cider, coffee, hot tea, beers, and wines. The specific drink choices may vary, but there will always be a selection to suit your preferences.
When it comes to desserts, you’ll be spoiled for choice. The selection usually includes pastries, cupcakes, fruit, cheese, and more. Disney accommodates guests with allergies and dietary restrictions, so be sure to let them know in advance.
Here’s just a sampling of the desserts you might find:
- Birthday Cupcake
- Celebration Cupcake
- Sugar Cookie
- Chocolate Chip Cookie
- Caramel Apple Crepe
- Chilling Chamber Pop (a favorite at WDW Prep School): Chocolate Crumbs, White Buttercream, and Chocolate Popping Crumbs
- Cookies ‘n’ Cream Cheesecake Mousse
- Chocolate-Covered Strawberry
- Firehouse Doughnuts: Ricotta doughnuts rolled in Cinnamon Sugar served with Strawberry topping
- Devil’s Chocolate Pudding: Chocolate Filling, Crumble Brownie, Milk Chocolate Whipped Cream
- Butterscotch Pudding with Caramel Pudding (a favorite at WDW Prep School)
- Chocolate Silk Pie: Chocolate Tart Shell, Chocolate Filling, Whipped Cream, and Chocolate Shavings
- Assorted breads, cheeses, and fresh fruit
There’s even a station where you can decorate cookies, making it a fun activity for both kids and adults.
How to Book Your Dessert Party
You can easily book any of the three dessert parties online. Keep in mind that these parties are immensely popular, so it’s best to grab a reservation as soon as they become available, usually up to 60 days in advance.

Check-In Details
When it comes to check-in, be sure to arrive 30-45 minutes before your given time if you want first dibs on desserts, tables (for Pre-Party and Seats & Sweets), or fireworks viewing spots (for the Post Party).
For Seats & Sweets, check-in may be allowed up to 60 minutes before the designated time, giving you more time to indulge in the dessert party. The earlier you arrive, the better your chances of securing your preferred table and view.
Check-in for all three parties takes place at Tomorrowland Terrace. There is usually a separate line for each party, so ask a nearby Cast Member if you’re unsure which line to join. Pre-Party and Post-Party attendees sit in different areas of the restaurant, while Seats & Sweets attendees sit in the lower section.
The View from the Garden Plaza and Seats & Sweets Locations
The view from the Garden Plaza is truly stunning. You’ll get a fantastic, nearly straight-on view of the castle. Although you won’t see the Main Street projections clearly from here, it doesn’t diminish the show’s presentation. Plus, you’ll have an excellent view of Tinker Bell as she flies over the area.
Seats & Sweets offers a more relaxed experience, with seating available for the show. Though the view isn’t as optimal as the Plaza Viewing, you won’t have to move around to enjoy the fireworks. Remember that the lights at Tomorrowland Terrace may stay on during the show, but it doesn’t significantly affect your experience. Don’t forget to watch out for Tink as she flies directly above you!
Are the Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties Worth It?
For many families, especially with the Post Party option, the answer is a resounding yes. Avoiding the crowds and securing a spot for the fireworks while enjoying the comfort of chairs makes the price worthwhile. If you decide to forego the party, you can still find great fireworks viewing locations, but be prepared to navigate through the throngs of people.
