Ingredients Required

To make this stir-fried broccoli, you will need:

  • Broccoli: You can either purchase pre-chopped broccoli florets or a whole head of broccoli that you can cut into florets yourself.
  • Garlic: This is the key ingredient that adds a rich flavor to the broccoli.
  • Soy Sauce: Light soy sauce will bring a delicious savory taste.
  • Seasoning: Salt, black pepper, and red chili flakes.
  • Oil: Choose between sesame oil, groundnut oil, or light olive oil.

How to Make Stir-Fried Broccoli

Blanching the Broccoli

  1. Step 1) Start by cutting the head of broccoli into florets and rinsing them with water.
  2. Step 2) Transfer the florets to a bowl with a lid and add hot water.
  3. Step 3) Cover the bowl and let the broccoli sit in the hot water for 2-3 minutes.
  4. Step 4) Prepare a bowl of water and ice cubes. Transfer the blanched broccoli florets into the ice water.
  5. Step 5) After 2-3 minutes, drain the water and transfer the broccoli florets to a colander. They are now ready for stir-frying.

Stir-Frying the Broccoli

  1. Step 1) Heat oil in a frying pan and add garlic. Fry it for a few seconds to infuse the oil with its flavor.
  2. Step 2) Add chili flakes, broccoli, salt, pepper, and soy sauce. Stir-fry over high heat for 1-2 minutes.
  3. Step 3) Add one tablespoon of water, cover, and cook the broccoli precisely for 20 seconds.
  4. Sprinkle sesame seeds over the stir-fried broccoli, and it’s ready to serve!

Serving Suggestion

Stir-fried broccoli makes an excellent vegetarian side dish to accompany pasta, steaks, grilled meat, or soups. For an Asian twist, serve it alongside dishes like chicken fried rice, chili oil noodles, or kung pao chicken.

Feel free to enjoy this stir-fried broccoli as a healthy and tasty snack between meals. It will keep you satisfied and provide a nutritious boost to your everyday diet.
