Trifle is a traditional British dessert consisting of layers of fruits, sponge cake pieces, cream, and sometimes even a bit of alcohol. This Strawberry Trifle is a perfect dessert recipe for spring. It celebrates the freshness of the season thanks to ripe strawberries, and the sponge cake and whipped cream add just the right amount of sweetness. The flavor is sweet and light, while the texture is creamy. While the dessert is super easy, it’s perfect to serve to guests, as the layers make this strawberry trifle very impressive. Just what you need on your dining table this Spring! You only need a handful of ingredients (pudding mix, whipped cream, strawberries, powdered sugar), and by assembling the ingredients in layers, you will have a beautiful dessert in no time!

Strawberry Trifle Layers

Don’t be tempted to add all the ingredients to the bowl at the same time! You want to create distinct layers by adding each ingredient separately. Try aiming for at least three layers for an impressive dessert.

Easy Strawberry Trifle Ingredients

Fruits – for this Strawberry Trifle we used strawberries, but you can also experiment with other fruits like blueberries, raspberries, bananas, peaches, or pineapples. When using raspberries, you might want to increase the sugar in the whipped cream just to offset the tartness of the berries. Always choose ripe berries for the best results.

Vanilla Wafers – this adds texture to the dessert. You can also use lady fingers, or pieces of Victorian sponge cake or angel food cake. It’s actually a great way to use up leftover sponge cake!

Whipped cream – choose full fat for the creamiest dessert.

Pudding mix – we used lemon pudding mix in this dessert, but you can also use vanilla or strawberry flavor!

How to Make the Best Strawberry Trifle

Prepare the pudding mix and the whipped cream and combine the two. Layer the vanilla wafers, cream mixture, and fresh strawberries in the trifle bowl, making sure to create the layers as neat as possible.
