Top 10 Valentines Day dinners to impress your date in Singapore 2022

    July 29, 202211 Mins Read

Because Valentine’s Day will be here before you know it!

There’s something special about sitting across the table from someone, revelling in the pleasure of their company as you savour the same dishes. It’s perhaps the simultaneous stimulation of all five senses which brings you closer to each other in ways that few other experiences can match.

With love in the air (and hopefully also the love of dining out), indulge yourselves with our top 10 recommendations for Valentine’s Day 2022.

    Table of Contents

    • 1. Zafferano
    • 2. Shabestan
    • 3. LeVeL33
    • 4. Cinder Steakhouse
    • 5. Restaurant Gaig
    • 6. Cuba Libre
    • 7. Museum of Ice Cream
    • 8. Binary
    • 9. The Gyu Bar
    • 10. You Are My Sunshine

    1. Zafferano

Zafferano is one of the paragons of fine dining in Singapore and for good reason. They have created three bespoke Valentine’s Day dinner menus available from 13 February.

The 5-course ‘Say Ti Amo‘ menu (S$298++ per person, early bookings at S$248++ per person), the 3-course ‘Say Ti Amo‘ menu (S$148++ per person), and the Romantic Terrace Experience (S$398++ per couple).

The 5-course ‘Say Ti Amo‘ commences with a trio of amuse-bouche and appetiser of Hokkaido scallops, roasted corn essence and oscietra caviar. Seafood continues to be the highlight with house-made fagottini stuffed with Sicilian red prawn topped with sea urchin sauce. The two main courses are a luscious Spanish turbot accompanied by a refreshing zucchini and champagne sauce, and A4 Miyazaki wagyu with salted baked beetroot and Bronte pistachios. His and hers desserts bring the evening to a close – tangy mango parfait with lime, passionfruit, and yuzu for her, and a rich chocolate cremoux with vanilla, raspberry, and chilli compote for him.

The 3-course ‘Say Ti Amo‘ menus substitutes the main course with alluring Jac Wagyu beef striploin MBS 8/9 with salted baked beetroots and pistachio.

The Terrace Experience brings you exquisite canapés and desserts, together with a bottle of fine wine or champagne and a red rose for each lady. Share a platter of Fine de Claire oysters served with soave sauce and lemon caviar, butter brioche with Sicilian red prawn and caviar, and foie gras ingots with moscato gel and saffron. Strawberry and yuzu tarts, Valrhona chocolate and champagne truffles round up the dessert.

    2. Shabestan

Great location, plush décor, and attentive staff can only take you so far if the food isn’t fantastic. Shabestan doesn’t just blow you away with every mouth-watering morsel but serves it in generous helpings, too.

Their Valentine’s Day 5-course menu (S$$98++ per pax) is a delectable plunge into Middle Eastern cuisine. Your evening begins with amuse-bouche and a complimentary glass of wine, prosecco or mocktail.

Persian Pomegranate Salad and Lebanese Beetroot Hummus follow, each delightfully presented. The treat for the eyes is surpassed only by the extravagant dance they perform on your taste buds.

Such a feast for the senses and you have barely just begun; Dawood Basha (Lamb Meatballs braised in tomato sauce) and a Sharing Kebab Platter (Shabestan’s signature Lamb Kubideh, Chicken Masti, Tekeh Masti, Prawn and Fish Kebabs served with Javaher Rice and Salad) are next. If ‘succulent’ could be summed up in a dish, these kebabs would be it.

    rose cheesecake

End your evening with a 3-layer Rose Cheesecake that is an adventure of both tastes and textures.

The V-Day menu is available from 1st – 14th February 2022. Reservations can be made online via https://www.shabestan.sg/reservation.

    3. LeVeL33

LeVeL33 prides itself on being the world’s ‘highest urban microbrewery’ so where better to take that special someone who makes you float on Cloud 9? Available only on Valentine’s Day, their curated 4-course menu (S$148++ per person) is available on two seatings – 5.30pm to 7.30pm and 8pm to 10.30pm.

Begin with Artisinal Made Sourdough and Freshly Shucked Oysters 3 Ways. Move on to Hokkaido Scallop Ceviche or Truffled Burrata. Choose between Westholme Sirloin and Kuhibarra Barramundi for your main. A 3-dessert Dessert Assiette presented with edible flowers and chocolate hearts wraps up dinner.

LeVeL33’s V-Day dinner sets itself apart with its champagne partnership with Perrier-Jouët. Diners receive two labels, the Perrier-Jouët Grand Brut (S$155) and the Perrier-Jouët Belle Epoque (S$458). Pre-order a bottle by 5 Feb and have your names engraved on the bottle for posterity.

    4. Cinder Steakhouse

The word ‘timeless’ is perhaps overused today but it is the only apt description for the Cinder Steakhouse.

Step back from chasing trends and indulge instead in the quiet but confident serenity offered by this unaltered colonial longhouse set amidst 2 acres of unspoiled nature in Seletar.

Cinder Steakhouse’s Valentine’s 2022 4-course set dinner expounds on Singapore’s British heritage, incorporating harvests normally found in English gardens like figs and roses in their dishes, just to name a few. An amuse bouche of Watermelon Gin Slushie will ease couples into the starters. Pick between 3 delectable options: Octopus Carpaccio, Fois Gras Terrine or Lobster Bisque. With the mains comes the jewel in the crown, Tagliata Di Manzo of prized Tajima Wagyu. You can substitute the beef for Grilled Pork Collar or King Salmon. Bring the evening to a sweet close with a Strawberry Trifle dessert.

Reservations are available for couples (S$158++/pax) and two seatings are available (6pm – 8pm and 8.30pm – 10.30pm). You can choose to add to the indulgence with a Sommelier Wine Pairing (S$60++/pax).

The appetiser is Maremoto of fresh sea urchin and Carabinero prawn tartar served in a sea urchin shell topped with caviar. Classic foie gras follows so you can enjoy the decadent tiers of French duck liver terrine and fresh black winter truffle shavings.

Savour their celebrated 150-year-old Cannelloni recipe, with its traditional pork and beef stuffing enhanced with the flavours of fresh winter truffles and soft cheese. Pan-seared Spanish turbot is the highlight of the mains and it is accompanied by Oscietra caviar and Duck magret with pear and chestnut sauce.

Conclude the evening with a classic Chocolate and Hazelnut dessert of rich foam and ice-cream.

Restaurant Gaig Valentine’s Day 6-course dinner set menu is available on 14 February from 6pm to 10pm.

    6. Cuba Libre

There is no question of the authenticity of the Latin American fare at Cuba Libre Clarke Quay; Chef Alex Moreno was born and raised in Havana and honed his craft there. His Valentine’s Dinner Menu is a 3-course affair (S$70++ per person with 2 glasses of wine/Prosecco or S$140++ per person with 1 bottle of wine/Prosecco) that draws from the flavours of his homeland.

Chef Moreno recommends his Mil Hojas de Aguacate y Cangrejo, an avocado and crab tart served on crispy parmesan sheets. The pan-seared Filet Mignon with red wine and balsamic sauce comes with a side dish of your choice and his house-made Apple Tart.

Vegetarians can opt for the Golden Egg, a deep-fried stuffed avocado on a salad nest. It is accompanied by Zucchini Boats, a Mexican-style zucchini canoe stuffed with mixed vegetables. It comes with a side and Chocolate Lava Cake for dessert.

Cuba Libre’s Valentine’s Day menu is available from 11th February – 14th February. Make your reservations online at https://www.cubalibre.asia/bookcq.

    7. Museum of Ice Cream

What if Willy Wonka created an ice-cream museum instead of a chocolate factory? That question is answered at one of Singapore’s newest, most unique and most interactive foodie experiences: The Museum of Ice Cream at Dempsey. It is just the third branch in the world and the only one outside the U.S.A.

MoIC certainly wins first prize for most tempting offer: all the ice cream you can eat in 90 minutes. Don’t feel guilty, though – you can burn off any extra calories immediately with activities integrated into the experience.

Despite the abundance of pink and its carefree, whimsical vibe, the Museum isn’t just a kiddie wonderland. The later of two sessions called ‘Night at the Museum’ begins at 6pm and has a decidedly mature twist to it, just right for Valentine’s Day. Alcohol-infused drink and ice-cream creations are part of the tour in both sessions.

Indulge in the sweetest of treats with a Night at the Museum, available for a limited time at S$48++/per pax.

    8. Binary

The more, the merrier! Why limit yourselves to a pair when Binary is giving discounts of 30%, 40%, and 50% to groups of 3, 4, and 5 respectively? Make Valentine’s Day a group affair with these offers available exclusively to groups between 3 and 5.

Worth trying are the Homemade Kubaneh Bread (S$14++), a pairing of buttery pull-apart rolls with house-blended garlic butter and kombu butter, and the Octopus Lao Gan Ma Chilli Crisp (S$28++ per person) which combines the mild heat of the well-known chilli sauce with fermented black bean sauce, black vinegar, and Sichuan green pepper oil.

Toast with Binary Craft Brew (S$16++), a cream ale created especially for Binary by Rye & Pint. Sip on the signature cocktails such as a refreshing Chrysanthemum Tea (S$24++) with chrysanthemum-infused vodka accentuated with kaffir lime and lemongrass sugar syrup and the spirit-forward Lime Praline (S$24++) comprising Ron La Progresiva rum, Frangelico, and fresh lime juice.

    9. The Gyu Bar

The Gyu Bar’s Valentine’s Day philosophy is that it is not where you eat that matters but who with. That is why you have the option of dining in for their special Wagyu Uni Chirashi Bento (S$65), takeaway, or home delivery.

This is not just any bento box but premium succulent Kagoshima A5 chuck ribs lightly torched and arranged into the shape of a heart. Hokkaido uni, ikura, diced takuan, tamagoyaki and cucumber create a diverse but complementary range of flavours and textures.

    10. You Are My Sunshine

Rounding up our Valentine’s Day picks is one that surprised us. You are My Sunshine in Ngee Ann City is better known for its premium hair treatments but the 8,000 square feet Mediterranean oasis-inspired salon also boasts a Korean-Western fusion cafe that is definitely worth checking out.

It is a casual dining affair but one based entirely on wholefoods and largely free of processed ingredients. Top of the list is their Signature Souffle Pancake (S$25).

Big eaters should try out their Kroffle with 100% Natural Ice Cream Buffet ($14.90++ per person) for all you can eat in 90 minutes. What’s a Kroffle, you ask? It’s a Korean sensation made by pressing croissants in a waffle pan so you get the delicate buttery flavor of a croissant and the fun texture of a waffle.
