We are so excited Walt Disney World Resort is bringing back fireworks dessert parties! While we have yet to learn about possible dessert parties for EPCOT or Disney’s Hollywood Studios, we do know Disney’s Magic Kingdom Park is preparing to roll out not just one, but THREE different dessert parties to feature fantastic desserts and viewing spots for the new “Disney Enchantment” nighttime spectacular. An interesting addition, however, is that unlike years past, Magic Kingdom Park is now noting alcohol will be one of the dessert party offerings.

Each of the three Magic Kingdom Dessert Parties is slightly different, but all will feature the same food and beverage options and begin on October 3, 2021.

  • DESSERT PARTY #1 is a “Pre-Party” option. The “Disney Enchantment Pre-Party” notes: “Sweeten your evening at Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant at Magic Kingdom Park with 50th anniversary-themed desserts prepared by our pastry chef, a variety of cheeses and beverages, with selections of beer and wine included. Then, before the show begins, Cast Members will escort you to a reserved standing viewing location in one of the plaza gardens with prime viewing of Disney Enchantment. Admission is $99 per adult (ages 10 and up); $59 per child (ages 3 to 9), tax included.”
  • DESSERT PARTY #2 takes place during the fireworks and provides seating in the Tomrorowland Terrace. The “Disney Enchantment Treats & Seats” notes: “After a day of Magic Kingdom Park fun, enjoy 50th anniversary-themed desserts prepared by our pastry chef, a variety of cheeses, and beverages, with selections of beer and wine included. Experience the fireworks views from the comfort of dedicated reserved seating at Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant.” Admission is $114 per adult (ages 10 and up); $69 per child (ages 3 to 9), tax included.
  • DESSERT PARTY #3 is a “After-Party” option. The “Disney Enchantment After-Party” notes: “Like the Disney Enchantment Pre-Party, this experience includes reserved standing viewing of Disney Enchantment in one of the plaza gardens. After taking in the sights and sounds of the spectacular, visit Tomorrowland Terrace Restaurant for a spread of 50th anniversary-themed desserts prepared by our pastry chef, a variety of cheeses and beverages, with selections of beer and wine included.” Admission is $99 per adult (ages 10 and up); $59 per child (ages 3 to 9), tax included.

Whichever party you choose from, you will note that Disney has included “Drink selections will also be available, including an assortment of beer and wine for Guests ages 21 and over.” In the past, Magic Kingdom’s fireworks dessert parties (AKA “Happily Ever After Dessert Party”) offered sparkling cider along with other non-alcoholic beverages. With that being said, there was a rare occasion when Guests noted having a beer and wine option while at the Happily Ever After Dessert Party, but it was never part of the noted offerings and didn’t seem to be consistently available. Why the official addition of alcohol now?

We’ve seen the slow progression of alcohol making its way into Magic Kingdom Park, from previously being banned from Magic Kingdom at Walt’s request. When Walt Disney World opened in 1971, the Park was a “dry” Park, meaning no alcohol was allowed to be served from any restaurant, kiosk, or booth. Walt’s popular quote is: “No liquor, no beer, nothing. Because that brings in a rowdy element. That brings people that we don’t want and I feel they don’t need it.”

At the other Disney Parks, including EPCOT, Disney’s Hollywood Studios, and Disney’s Animal Kingdom there is a plethora of alcohol. Of course, you’ll also find plenty of alcohol selections at Disney Springs and all of the Walt Disney World Resort Hotels. Magic Kingdom still remains the one Disney Park without beer carts and lounges. You can however now get your hands on alcohol if you know where to look.

When the popular Be Our Guest Restaurant opened at Magic Kingdom in 2012, to the surprise of many, alcohol was on the menu. Following suit, we’ve now seen the addition of alcohol at many of the Magic Kingdom table service restaurants such as Tony’s Town Square, The Plaza Restaurant, Diamond Horseshoe, and Jungle Navigation Co. Ltd. Skipper Canteen. Alcohol is still unavailable at quick-service locations.

Does the addition of alcohol surprise you at Magic Kingdom’s new fireworks dessert parties? EPCOT’s former “Frozen Ever After Sparkling Dessert Party”, Disney’s Hollywood Studios’ former “Star Wars: A Galactic Spectacular Dessert Party” and “Fantasmic! Dessert & VIP Viewing Experience”, and even Disney’s Animal Kingdom’s former “Rivers of Light Dessert Party” all offered alcohol. It looks like Magic Kingdom is officially joining the ranks.

Magic Kingdom’s three dessert parties will begin on October 3, 2021, with reservations available for booking as of September 17, 2021. For reservations, visit the Walt Disney World links for Disney Enchantment Pre-Party, Disney Enchantment Treats & Seats, or Disney Enchantment After-Party. Happy sipping, Disney fans!
